The Federal Express Entry system, which falls under the Economic category, includes the:
Federal Skilled Worker Program
- Nomination is on a points system based on level of education, work experience, language skills and age
Federal Skilled Trades Program
- Designed for foreign workers with qualifications in a skilled trade
Canadian Experience Class
- Managed by the Express Entry program which is aimed at foreign workers with Canadian work experience or recent graduates of Canadian institutions working in Canada
The Provincial Nominee Program, part of the economic immigration stream, allows participating Canadian provinces and territories to nominate eligible immigration candidates for Permanent residence.
Family class programs
Spousal/Common-law Partner Sponsorship and Dependent Child eligibility:
- 18 years of age or older
- A Canadian citizen, permanent resident living in Canada or person registered under the Canadian Indian Act
- You live in Canada or are a Canadian citizen planning to return to the country
- You are not receiving social assistance for reasons other than a disability
- You can provide for the basic needs of your spouse or partner and if applicable
- Dependent Children
- You must be able to support your partner financially
- Make sure your partner will not require social assistance from the government
Parents and Grandparents Program eligibility:
- Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents are able to sponsor their parents and grandparents to immigrate to Canada. If approved, parents and grandparents can receive permanent residence which would ultimately lead to Canadian citizenship
- 18 years of age or older
- A Canadian citizen, permanent resident living in Canada or person registered under the Canadian Indian Act
- Residing in Canada
- Exceed the minimum necessary income level for this program and provide proof of income
- Sign an undertaking to financially support the parents/grandparents for 20 years which starts when they become permanent residents
