Visitors applying for a work permit inside Canada
- Sosaan Immigration
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) extends public policy allowing visitors to obtain and/or continue to apply for work permits inside Canada if they have valid job offers.
Effective February 28, 2023, foreign nationals who are in Canada as visitors and who receive a valid job offer will continue to be able to apply for and receive a work permit without having to leave the country.
Visitors applying under this public policy who held a work permit within the last 12 months will also continue to be able to request interim work authorization to begin working for their new employer more quickly.

Government of Canada allowing more international youth to work and travel in Canada International Experience Canada (IEC) Program

As of January 9, 2023, the number of applicants that can apply under the IEC Program will increase by 20%. IEC is a reciprocal program that allows Canadians and International youth to work and travel in each other’s countries. This increase means that nearly 90,000 candidates will be able to work and travel in Canada, including Francophone youth, which will help employers fill labour gaps, including for seasonal work opportunities in Canada’s tourism industry.
Canada has youth mobility arrangements with 36 countries and foreign territories through the IEC Program that allow youth from Canada’s partner countries to work and travel in Canada for up to 2 years. Ages range from 18 to 35 years depending on the country.

The NOC system is Canada’s national system to classify an applicant’s job to determine their eligibility for Canadian immigration programs. The system breaks down all occupations into codes. Codes are then grouped together based on the type of work, and the job duties that the person does. Candidates must select the NOC code that best matches their job.
The New Change to the NOC system
As of November 16, 2022, Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) migrated to the NOC 2021 version 1.0 where current skill types, 0, A or B are replaced by the Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities (TEER) categories. Jobs are grouped into the TEER categories based on the type of job duties and the work conducted.
